Sneak Peek: This is the original pre-production version of the song as presented to Netflix. While we are sworn to secrecy about the project itself, we can talk about how the Zombie Love project came about.

When Brian was approached by Netflix to produce the theme song for one of their popular streaming games, Netflix was still in the running to buy Warner Bros. But Paramount/Skydance came with a better offer, and Netflix decided to bow out. This was good news for Brian because it meant Netflix wouldn’t outsource and the entire game franchise would stay in-house, meaning that not only would Brian write the theme song but also the soundtrack, and create the music for follow-up projects, like the planned full-length movie pilot and television series.

In the original pre-production version, Brian engaged a local singer to perform the vocals, but Netflix dialed up the pressure after the Warner Bros. fiasco, and Brian was forced to find someone else to finish the project. Using his ties to Disney, he reached out to ‘Encanto’ co-producer Clark Spencer, who in turn recommended Carolina Padrón. Brian thought the Ecuadorian-born Padrón was perfect for the project because of her rich experience and vocal range, including the ability to growl certain lines and accents, which fit the project concept to a tee.

Brian named the collaboration ‘F A I T H’ after the original singer, but the music supervisory team at Netflix loved the theme song and concept so much that they insisted that he keep it, even after changing singers. So everything pertaining to the project from now on will be under the brand ‘F A I T H’.

It’s still early in the project, and the game hasn’t been released quite yet, but we will announce further updates as they occur. In the meantime, enjoy Zombie Love and be sure to check out Brian’s other releases…
