In the mid-2000s, Brian Walton grew tired of modern country music, with its rap elements and over-engineered ‘Nashville’ sound, so he decided to try blues-rock instead. Besides, many of the country bands he sat in with were covering the classics anyway.
When Brian moved to Colorado in 2006, he joined the Toad House Band, a blues project that Marty Wallace and Toad Tavern Owner Brice Hancock put together to support the many national blues acts Brice invited to play at his venue. Brian was ecstatic to be playing lead guitar again, and as the band’s only experienced lead singer, he did most of the singing whenever they opened for national acts. That nudged him further along the blues-rock path.
