Album: Made in the Shade

Brian’s iconic album Made in the Shade, which dropped in 1993, achieved Gold status by 2002—proof of its enduring appeal. Fast forward to 2013, and three of its standout tracks had each surpassed one million streams, according to MRC Data. This really highlights how Brian’s music continues to resonate with fans and connect with new listeners even years later.

The album was produced by Thomas Schmitt-Zijnen, with Brian Walton and Mickey Lee Henke as co-producers, and was engineered by Tommy Korge alongside Walton and Henke. They crafted the album during the summer of 1993 at Pauley Tonstudio in Giessen, Germany, navigating a tight production schedule that often led to late-night or all-nighter sessions. During these sessions, Brian not only developed captivating musical compositions but also penned the lyrics. A total of 22 tracks were recorded, with Sony Records handpicking the best for the final release. The remaining tracks found their way onto later releases or were released as singles.
